Cuero ISD Shattered Dreams Set for April 17
Cuero, Texas: Cuero ISD will hold the Shattered Dreams Program on Wednesday, April 17th at 405 Park Heights Drive in Cuero. This program is made possible by the Cuero ISD Education Foundation.
The Crash Scene will begin at 10:45 AM. There will be a mock memorial service on April 18th at 9:30 AM for the mock crash fatalities at the Cuero ISD Performing Arts Center. Community members are invited to attend any of the Shattered Dreams events.
Many volunteers have partnered with Cuero ISD to make this happen, including the Cuero Police Department, DeWitt County Sheriff Department, Cuero Fire Department, Cuero Regional Hospital, Cuero EMS, DeWitt County Justice of the Peace, Freund Funeral Home, TDCJ-Stevenson Unit, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas A&M Agrilife, Air Methods, DeWitt County Local Emergency Planning Committee, and many community volunteers.
The "Shattered Dreams" program is designed to educate our youth about the dangers associated with drinking and driving. This program involves the dramatization of an alcohol-related crash on or near a high school campus, complete with police and EMS response, emergency room treatment, family notifications, and the arrest and booking of the driver.
Approximately every 15 minutes someone in Texas is injured or killed as a result of drunk driving. Too many lives have been lost and many others severely impaired because of the tragic consequences of underage drinking and driving. Families, schools, faith-based and community groups in Texas are encouraged to together to teach young people that consuming alcohol while underage is never a good choice, especially when driving is involved.
