Cuero Health: Jan. 2020 Health Event Calendar
The following are events scheduled for the month of January that are either presented by Cuero Regional Hospital or one of the Cuero Health entities or include involvement from the Cuero Health staff.
2020 New Year. Fresh Start. Community Walk.
Jan. 2, 2020, registration at 5 p.m., walk/run at 6 p.m.
Cuero Municipal Park
Join the Cuero Health staff as they promote wellness and community spirit at the 2020 New Year. Fresh Start. Community Walk. Walk through Cuero’s Christmas in the Park! The event will be held at Cuero Municipal Park on January 2nd with day of registration at 5 p.m. and the walk/run starting at 6 p.m. Families are invited to participate as this will not be a timed walk/jog. This event is to encourage a healthy start to the New Year (as well as a chance to walk thru and see the lights at Cuero's Christmas in the Park). Proceeds will support the continued maintenance and growth of Cuero's Christmas in the Park. The first 100 paid participants will receive a T-shirt. Walk is family-friendly; walk or jog this one mile course. Registration is $15 per person before Dec. 23. After that date, the registration fee increases to $20. If you or your family would like to walk, but not register and receive a t-shirt, please come the day of the race at 5 p.m. to fill out a release form. Parkside Picnic – Now CRH Golden Years Group
Jan. 9, noon – 1 p.m.
Cuero Regional Hospital’s Atrium, 2550 N. Esplanade, Cuero
The group of senior citizens that used to meet at Parkside Family Clinic for Parkside Picnic now meets at Cuero Regional Hospital in the Education Classroom on the second Thursday of the month for the CRH Golden Years Group. Reservations are not required for this event. Room capacity is 35 and a light lunch will be served to attendees.
CRH CPR Class
Jan. 15, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Cuero Regional Hospital Education Classroom Learn CPR in this interactive class taught by Cuero Regional Hospital staff. $20 per person to attend. Blood Drive at Cuero Regional Hospital
Jan. 16, 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
CRH Education Classroom
Cuero Regional Hospital will be hosting a blood drive in the Education Classroom on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds, and in good general health can donate blood. Donors must present photo ID, last four digits of their social security number and their birth date. For further information regarding location, please contact Kathy Simon at 361-275-0510.
Health Checks in Cuero Presented by Cuero Home Health

Calvary Baptist Church, Cuero
Cuero Home Health provides free blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks the third Tuesday of the month at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cuero as the schedule allows. For more information, call Cuero Home Health at 361-275-8999.

Cuero Regional Hospital’s Education Classroom
Diabetes Education Classes are held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Cuero Regional Hospital's Education Room. These classes are for anyone over 18yrs of age and older. Call 361-703-5441 for more information or to enroll.

Friday, February 7, 2020 is National Wear Red Day®.
Wear your favorite RED shirt or outfit and support heart education. Submit your photo in your red (individual or with co-workers/group) on CRH’s Facebook page. One lucky submitter will receive a one month membership to Bfit Cuero Wellness Center and a $25 HEB gift card. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men die from heart disease each year. Heart & Sole Heart Walk Presented by Cuero Regional Hospital

Walk: 9:00 a.m.
Join the Cuero Health staff as they promote heart health awareness on Saturday, February 8! Cuero Regional Hospital’s Heart & Sole Heart Walk 2020 will be held again at the Gobbler Stadium, 920 E. Broadway St., Cuero on Saturday, February 8 with registration at 8 a.m. and the walk starting at 9 a.m. Activities and morning of registration will begin at 8:00am with the Heart Walk following at 9:00am – 11:00 am. The first 100 registered participants will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag. Walk is family friendly; walk or jog this 3 mile course for heart awareness. Registration for Heart Calcification Screenings from Cuero Regional Hospital will also take place at this event. Registration is $25 per person for a t-shirt and goody bag with children 12 and under walking for free (registration required). National Nurses Week – May 6 – 12, 2020 National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday. Recent advances and research in the prevention, detection and treatment of cervical cancer and HPV, as well as the success of early detection cervical cancer screening and treatment programs, will be acknowledged.
