Cuero, Texas: Cuero Regional Hospital is pleased to announce the public opening and accepting of its first patients following a successful inspection from the Texas Department of Health. The newly renovated Emergency Department (ED) opens at 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 2. ER patients are directed to park at the ER main entrance, which is located in the rear of Cuero Regional Hospital, 2550 N. Esplande, Cuero, TX 77954.

The 1.5 million renovation project features about 1,000 square feet of additional space, six fully private treatment rooms, additional private patient registration areas, as well as an upgraded nurses' station and new triage area to improve patient flow through the ED as well. Prior to the renovation, three existing ED patient rooms were curtained off, but have now been transformed into private exam suites with doors to increase privacy and comfort.

"With this expansion and new design, our ED space is much more pleasing and functional for patient care and visitors, said Lynn Falcone, Cuero Health CEO. "Having an emergency department that is state of the art to serve the many communities that we do is a blessing."

"Our ED is staffed by highly trained and caring physicians and nurses," said Judy Mazak, Director of the ED. "We truly are quality care close to home."

The Day Surgery unit had been temporarily moved to the second floor of the hospital to allow for the ED to be housed in their space during the renovation process. With the ED renovation complete, the Day Surgery Department will resume patient care in their unit in mid-August.
