1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men die from heart disease each year. By supporting National Wear Red Day®, you help support educational programs aimed to increase awareness for women regarding cardiovascular health. From The American Heart Association’s website, it’s no longer just about wearing red; it’s no longer just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about all women making a commitment to stand together with Go Red and taking charge of their own heart health as well as the health of those they can’t bear to live without.

To help combat heart disease, Cuero Regional Hospital wants you to know your numbers. Cuero Regional Hospital is offering a heart calcification screening at a reduced price of $165 during the month of February. Specific appointments can be made for Feb. 12, 19 and 26 between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon by calling 361-275-0170. Or, register for your screening at the Heart & Sole Heart Walk set for Feb. 8 with registration at 8 a.m. and walk at 9 a.m. at Gobbler Stadium. The quick screening measures the amount of plaque in the heart arteries and a lipid profile (lab work) will also be completed to determine total cholesterol levels. This information is predictive of coronary heart disease, and with the help of a physician’s plan, can reduce the risk of heart attack. To schedule an appointment, call 361-275-0170.
