Heart Awareness Month Screenings in February
Contact: Lynn Falcone, CEO
Cuero, Texas: Cuero Regional Hospital is offering a heart calcification screening at a reduced price during the month of February. Specific appointments can be made for Feb. 21 or 28 between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. by calling 361.275.0170. Or, register for your screening at the Heart & Sole Heart Walk set for Feb. 16 with registration at 8 a.m. and walk at 9 a.m. at Gobbler Stadium.
The quick screening measures the amount of plaque in the heart arteries and a lipid profile (lab work) will also be completed to determine total cholesterol levels. This information is predictive of coronary heart disease, and with the help of a physician's plan, can reduce the risk of heart attack.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. Heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions.
"With the help of physicians and staff at Cuero Regional Hospital and our clinics, we can work together to create opportunities for people to make healthier choices, address their risk factors and reduce their risk of heart disease," said Lynn Falcone, CEO of Cuero Health.
The cost is $165 (pre-pay at time of service; no insurance companies, Medicaid or Medicare will be billed). Screenings are available to anyone in the public who would like to participate (not recommended for those with pace makers or who have had bypass surgeries). A physician's order is not necessary to schedule, and these screenings are intended for both men and women age 40 years and older, although anyone at least 18 years of age can participate. Participants should not have any caffeine eight hours prior to the heart screen and should fast for 12 hours prior to lipid profile (lab work). To schedule an appointment, call 361.275.0170. This special screening offer will expire on Feb. 28, 2019.
