M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation, Inc. Grant Provides Two Ambulances to Cuero Regional Hospital

Cuero, Texas: Cuero Regional Hospital’s EMS recently received two new ambulances thanks to a $150,000 grant from the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation. The grant was submitted in 2018 by Freddie Solis, Cuero Regional Hospital EMS Director. Solis confirmed both ambulances are 2019 models, with one being a Ford F450 extended cab and the other a Ford Transit Van.

The Ford F-450 extend cab features: Ford F-450 ext. cab chassis, Liquid spring suspension, GoIndustries grill guard with headlight wrap, SafetyVision backup and patient camera, Mobility Seat squad bench, and Ferno iNTraxx System. Per Solis, these are all state-of-the-art features and absolutely necessary to continue building the EMS department services at Cuero Regional Hospital.

“Thanks to this grant, the new ambulances ensure that our patients receive state-of-the-art emergency medical care. Access to EMS is critical for rural residents and our licensed paramedics and EMTs are proud to serve a geographically large area, but we often have to travel farther than our urban counterparts and sometimes navigate difficult terrain. Receiving these new fully-equipped licensed mobile intensive care units to transport our patients safely and quickly is critical. Now that our team can deliver services in these new ambulances, it will certainly improve the quality of care we provide every day,” said Solis.

“Given the rural areas we serve, our ambulances travel many miles and unfortunately are subject to additional wear and tear, so to have the opportunity to receive these two state-of-the-art ambulances through this grant to better serve our area is certainly a gift that we are very grateful for. We at Cuero Regional Hospital will be good stewards of this wonderful grant,” said Lynn Falcone, CEO of Cuero Health.

Cuero Regional Hospital (CRH) maintains TDSHS designation as a Level IV Trauma Center and all Emergency Department personnel maintain up-to-date, specialized training in the care of injured patients. CRH participates in the Texas Trauma System with ready access to regional resources when the needs of the patient exceed local capabilities. For more information please call (361) 275-6191.
