Home Health

Home health care isn't simply convenient; it's good medicine. Studies show patients recover faster and live longer if they receive care at home. Home health care eliminates or reduces the need to be hospitalized or placed in a nursing home, which results in cost-savings for patients. A typical home health visit costs less than an average day in the hospital. Cuero Home Health has been providing home care to the citizens of DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Lavaca, Karnes and Victoria counties since 1984.

Home health services

Services may be provided to clients in their own home, relative's home, foster home or retirement home. To provide the most comprehensive and flexible care to patients, Cuero Home Health maintains two Texas Home and Community Support Services licenses. Licensed & Certified services provide home care to qualifying Medicare and Medicaid clients. Under the Medicare Certified License, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and home health aide service is provided to clients with Medicare and Medicaid coverage when services are medically necessary ordered by a physician, and the patient is homebound.

Under a separate license, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and home health aide services are provided to clients that have insurance or wish to pay privately for skilled services.

Cuero Home Health also offers Philips Lifeline, an easy-to-use personal response and support service that summons help any time of the day or night. A Personal Help Button, worn on a wristband or pendant, links patients to 24-hour security and emergency medical assistance seven days a week. When the button is pressed a trained Personal Response Associate will contact a neighbor, loved one or emergency services based on specific needs and will follow up to confirm that help has arrived.

Primary home care and community-based alternatives

Cuero Home Health also offers personal assistance services, Primary Home Care (Star Plus Non-Waiver) and Community-Based Alternatives (Star Plus Waiver) to eligible Medicaid clients under this same license. Referrals for all services may be made by physicians, nurses, families or clients themselves. Home care staff coordinates care with a physician in order to promote, maintain and restore patient health to its fullest potential.
