Turkey Trot 5K

PAST EVENTS:

Turkey Trot 5k 2025: a fun-run event that brings our community together in preparation for Cuero's own Turkeyfest Weekend Celebration! This 5-kilometer run takes course through the quiet neighborhoods of our small town, allowing runners to enjoy some of the sights of little Cuero.

Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a leisurely walk to enjoy with family and friends, our small-town race is bound to be fun for everyone.

Along the route, runners will be passing by Cuero's school campuses, including our high school. Proceeds of this event benefit a future scholarship for a Cuero High School senior looking to pursue a career in the Health and Fitness fields!

In 2023, we awarded TWO Turkey Trot scholarships to Hazelyn Hahn and Jared Villanueva, both of whom are actively attending their schools of choice, while 2024's scholarship was awarded to Audrey Kremling to help her goals of becoming a sports coach!

The Route:

Before the race begins, all participants will be gathered to the side of the Cuero Wellness Center's building on East Sarah Street. Remember to stay on the left side of the street! This helps to avoid accidents.

At the horn, you'll run straight ahead, all the way up the hill next to Hillside Cemetery.

Once you've reached the hilltop at the backend of the cemetery, take a left onto Park Heights towards Cuero Intermediate School, and then the very next left onto Quarry Lane.

Take Quarry Lane all the way to the end and take the right onto 2nd Street.

Take the next left onto Boulder Ridge, and again at Industrial Park.

Follow the road all the way down to the cul de sac in front of Hunt Elementary School. This is where you'll find the water station! Grab a cup of water to stay hydrated and continue on the rest of your run!

From here, follow the cul-de-sac to turn around and take the road back to 2nd Street, but this time you'll follow the road all the way down the hill.

At the base of the hill just past the cemetery, take a left onto North Valley Street.

Now take a right onto Reuss Boulevard.

Next up, take a left onto North Gonzales Street. If you pass the tree in the road, you've gone too far!

Lastly, take a right back onto Sarah Street and there's the finish line!

Along your trail, you'll be assisted along by a number of signs and volunteers to make sure you didn't miss a turn and are headed in the right direction.

Tips for the Race:

Runners will be given a welcome packet containing a few goodies from our sponsors and hosts, their event shirt, and their runner's bib! An event worker will give you instructions on how and where to attach your bib. Further instructions and tips for the race will be given upon packet pick-up or on same-day registration.
